Wire Conveyor Belt Specifications Explained

What the four numbers in a belt code mean, and how to measure an existing belt.

Wire conveyor belts are specified by four measurements:

  • A – the number of spiral coils per foot of belt width
  • B – the number of cross members (rods) per foot of belt length
  • C – the diameter of the spiral coil wire
  • D – the diameter of the cross-rod wire

A Roshan code such as R-16: 36-22-12 gives the belt type (R-16) followed by these values. Our balanced weave and rod reinforced pages list the standard combinations.

Measuring a belt you already use

Count spirals across one foot (305 mm) of width and rods along one foot of length, then measure both wire diameters with a micrometer. Add the overall width, length, edge type and the conveyor drawing, and we can match or improve the belt.
