Frequently asked questions

Quotations, materials, temperatures and product questions.

General

What information do you need for a quotation?

Belt type (if known), width, length, material, wire diameter, pitch, edge type, operating temperature, product and load. A drawing or photo of your existing belt helps a lot — you can upload it on the quotation form.

Do you make belts to custom sizes?

Yes. Our belts are made to the specification required by each customer — width, length, wire, material and edge.

What materials do you work with?

Mild steel, stainless steels such as AISI 304, 316, 316L, 321, 310 and 310S, and high-nickel alloys such as Inconel 600 and nickel-chrome. We use quality wire from Tata Steel and Visakhapatnam Steel.

What temperature range can your belts handle?

Depending on the alloy and design, our belts are made for duties from freezing (laminated belts from −40 °C) up to 1150 °C with high-nickel alloys.

Do you export?

Yes. Our belts are supplied across India and to customers abroad, including Sri Lanka and the UAE. Write to export@roshanind.com for export enquiries.

Is Roshan Industries ISO certified?

Yes. Roshan Industries is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company, and holds the MSME ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect) Silver certification from the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

Is every belt inspected?

Yes. Each belt is factory-inspected for accurate specification and workmanship before dispatch.

Can you match a belt we already use?

Yes. Send the code on your belt, or measure spirals and rods per foot and the wire diameters, and upload a photo. See our guide to belt specifications.

What wire gauges are available for Z-47 bands?

Z-47 bands are made from 17 gauge (1.40 mm), 18 gauge (1.20 mm) and 20 gauge (0.90 mm) wire in mild steel or stainless steel. Other materials can be made to your requirement.

Z-47 Articulated Wire Belt

What temperature can a Z-47 band handle?

Our standard 18 SWG mild-steel Z-47 band is rated up to 600 °C. For your exact oven conditions, send us the operating temperature and we will recommend the wire and material.

Z-47 Articulated Wire Belt

Can you supply the band in one piece for a long oven?

Single-piece length matters because joints create tracking problems on long ovens. Send us your oven length and we will confirm the longest single piece we can supply.

Which balanced weave type should I choose?

R-3 to R-6 types suit light loads, R-16 to R-18 medium loads and R-19 heavy-duty loads. Share your product size, load and temperature and we will recommend a specification.

Balanced Weave Belt

What does a code like R-16: 36-22-12 mean?

R-16 is the belt type; the numbers describe spirals per foot of width, cross rods per foot of length and wire diameters. See the 'How to read the code' table above.

Balanced Weave Belt

Is the belt available in stainless steel?

Yes — stainless grades such as AISI 304 and 316 are standard, with heat-resisting grades for higher temperatures.

Balanced Weave Belt

When should I use a rod reinforced belt instead of balanced weave?

Choose rod reinforced construction when the belt carries significant load at high temperature and you need minimal stretch over its working life.

Rod Reinforced Belt

Which types are available?

R-9 (heavy loads), R-10 (medium), R-11 (light) and R-12 (small loads), each in several wire combinations listed above.

Rod Reinforced Belt

What is a closed pitch belt used for?

Mainly for drying light food articles where strong airflow through the belt is required.

Closed Pitch Belt (CB-5)

How is Gratex different from balanced weave?

The spirals are wound more closely and joined with straight (not crimped) rods, producing a stronger, semi-closed mesh for small parts.

Gratex Belt

How wide can a laminated belt be?

From 100 mm up to 6000 mm.

Laminated Belt (R-Omniflex)

Which material for a tunnel freezer?

For freezing environments a low-carbon stainless steel such as T304L or T316L is recommended.

Why choose honeycomb over wire mesh?

When you need more load capacity while keeping flexibility — common in enrobing and quenching lines.

Honeycomb Belt

What materials are enrober belts made in?

Stainless steel and mild steel wire, selected to your product and process.

Enrober Belt

Why is it called a track-free belt?

The side chains run on sprockets, so the belt is positively guided and cannot drift even with oily products.

Chain Edge Belt

What details do you need for a quote?

Belt width, length, chain pitch, product, load, temperature and conveyor drawing if available.

Chain Edge Belt

Which weave do you recommend for cooling?

It depends on the biscuit size and how flat the surface must be. Send us your product and conveyor details and we will recommend a weave.

Looking for a conveyor belt built for your application?

Send us your belt width, length, material and process details — or a drawing or photo of your current belt — and our engineers will recommend a specification and quote.
